Bring back /me
Posted 9 years ago "Bring back /me!" The crowd assembled outside Pat's mansion cries as a shoe flies through the mansion's window and smashes into Pat's extensive toe nail collection. The expression on their faces were of anger and guilt. Some of their's misuse of /me had let to its removal. "Bring back /me!" The crowd yells again as they flip over Pat's Mail Truck as it plays the Postman Pat song. "Postman Pat. Postman Pat. Postman Pat and his black and white cat. Early in the mornin- Boom!" the truck explodes, scattering parcels, letters and truck parts around Pat's leafgreen lawn. They raise their signs and continue chanting "Bring back /me!' in hopes that Pat will wake up and answer their plea. A loud bang is heard throughout the mansion as Pat's master toilet explodes, flooding the entire first floor with water. Meanwhile, Pat snores in his bed dreaming about rowing a boat across the Norwegian sea, hunting for his beloved long lost donut. From the distant mountains, a war horn is heard as men on horseback carrying a battering ram are seen heading for Pat's front door. Hearing the horn, the crowd prepares to raid the mansion, arming themselves with whatever they can find. Fence posts, hoes, rakes and even gardening knomes. Just as the battering ram approaches the door, a loud deep voice reverbrates through the air "Halt." At this, Pat finally awakes from his slumber, stunned to find his prized toe nail collection floating around in his now flooded room. He then realises a massive crowd had assembled outside his door. The men carrying the Battering Ram reluctantly put down the Ram, dissapointed that they could not bust down Pat's Oak wood door. "Violence and destruction is not the answer", the voice says. "Disperse or feel the wrath of Sneyersul's staff beating down on your backs" it continued Not wanting to be assaulted with tear gas and water cannons, the crowd reluctantly dispersed. Leaving Pat's once pristine-looking frontyard crater-ridden, his petunias trampled. And his roof covered with so much toilet paper, that it looked like it had just snowed. Fin Anyway, I apologise if any of you are offended by the above. Tis meant to be joke
Now, for the reason I made this post. What was it? Hm.. Ah yes. Bring back /me D: Would it help if we, the players of Sneyersul pledged ourselves to use /me for its intended purpose and never misuse it ever again? If not possible, can we have plot /me? A /me that only players on the plot you're on can see? 3 likes |

Posted 9 years ago Its a good story, But /me won't be brought back. People will do this 'pledge' thing you speak of, but when staff are not online people will just take advantage and speak through it. I'm not saying all, but some people are too lazy to check /news every once in a while. We had pat put in a way for people to talk without the use of /me but with this community never checking /news, it seems pat went to the effort for nothing? Unless people start using alternative ways of speaking out of plot chat (either going out of plotchat or @) I don't seein /me being brought back in anytime in the neat future.

Their laziness doesn't even make sense. @ is two buttons. Shift and 2. While /me is 4 / m e spacebar. What do you people who still decided to use /me to speak out of plotchat even after @ was implemented have to say? :/

Posted 9 years ago Holy- how did I not see this topic until now?? I love the story (though you could've at least spared my petunias... rip).
Due to players having abused /me in the past, I don't think we'll re-enable it for a while. I guess a possible workaround to force people to use it correctly could be to look up the first word after /me and, if it's not a verb, prevent the message from being displayed. It would result in an extra second or two before the message appears, though.
I can definitely get behind this idea. It should discourage people from using /me to try to chat globally. And who knows, maybe after enough time players will catch on so that we can bring back /me in its original form. :) 2 likes |
Posted 9 years ago The story was really good, I couldn't look away until I finished it. If it was in a series, then I would most likely read that book series. The only part I really am thinking of to critique is; you forgot to mention any damage to Veetuh's bedroom, private bathroom, and walk in closet with the secret button behind the third dress shirt on the right-hand side that leads to the Patcave. I hope that you can incorporate that into a possible second book/second excerpt to a book called "The Conflicts of Sneyersul". Other than that, great job on the writing. I am the most Sneyer-soulless person in the Sneyer-solar system 1 like |

Is this going to happen? I think its been more or less long enough that people have forgotten about /me |
Posted 9 years ago This is why /me will never be re-added. Look at the controversy! The power of Sneyersul shall and must not be underestimated. |
