Securing your minecraft account
Posted 10 years ago Recently i have been worried about the security of my computer and its contents due to the amount of malware and virus on the web and the state antiviruses are in so i started to do some reserach and started to try and delvop my own antivirus client and database so to start with i decided to go and lurk on some underground hack fourms (provided by one of my friends) as i thought that the best way to combat viruses is to see the spreading methods being used right now and the programs and type of virus that are popular after lurking for around a year i think i have started to get a good idea about what sort of tools are out there and how to protect my self.
The reason why i am posting this here is that i have seen and accuried a massive list of minecraft alts which have been stolen so i thought i would share with you some ways to keep safe on the web and not get your minecraft account to become some persons alt account (and you having to buy a new one)
so here we go first of all i am going to go through the basics then move on to some advance stuff
first thing is to make a secure password (you do not want to make hackers/skript kiddies lives any easyer so make sure you make a secure password so things to consider while doing this is NEVER have the same password for more then and one account as trust me when someone cracks one of your accounts the next thing they do is to check the password with all the rest of your accounts and see if it works. so now some tricks to making a secure password i will split this into 2 sections
Do's make sure your password is at least 10 charactors long as the longer the password the more combinations of charactors there is therefor the longer it will take to crack other things to do is to add in charactors in like !"£$%^&*()_+-=[]{}@~:;?/.<.>`¬\| as these charactors are not often used in the dictionary lists that people use to crack your account
Don'ts make it your name or a common word, short, a date or other set of number easy to guess, anything to do with you such as fav film or childrens names as people will find every thing about you before they even attempt to crack your password (use your common sense).
After you have created your secure password for you minecraft account you need to make sure you do not get a virus or anyother maleware on your computer which could steal your minecraft password or any other sensitive data. so here is a list of the current popular virus out on the web and what they do After this i will tell you how to best protect you self against these. rats: these are often called remote admin tools or remote access trojan these are the worst kinds of virus to get as these give the controler complete access to your computer this inculdes alll of your data on your hard drives control of your keyboard and mouse they can also see you screen webcam and many others depending how much you are paying for one these run on a client server type of system meaning the hacker has the client and then builds a server then you run the server on your computer (i will talk about how they spread it to later on) though some more advance one use a server as a server so they do not need a direct connection with you.
keyloggers: these do what they sound like they log every keypress and click of your mouse (many rats including free ones include this feature) though you are not often going to get one of these as they are by my reserach very unpouplar with theh hacking community. worms: these are actualy harmless in them selfs it is just a piece of code that spreads it's self through your network and through memory sticks ect these are expensive to get a good one and not often used on a normal persons computer these often carry a rat as there payload. these are the main virus you are going to get on your computer but the is many variants of these and some of time virus are not classable they just run a script on your computer and then just sit there.
the best ways to stop you getting any of the above is to follow these simple steps first of all have a good up to date antivirus and firewall (windows defender and built in firewall will just not cut it) if you are looking for an antivirus i would recoment total 360 it is also free and for a free firewall i would recomend comodo the reason for the extra filewall is that when rats are run on your computer they need to establish a connection to the client weather that be an persons computer or a server so an extra firewall might be able to stop that outgoing connection and a antivirus will try and detect a virus before it is run. This should be what you are already doing but now i am going to tell you some popular spreading methods but first of all i will tell you what they use to help them spread there viruses. they will use probley 1 of 2 programs these are called: crypter: this is used to make a persons virus not flag up a file as a virus this is done by adding a load of junk code to the virus so the antivirus will not be able to read the bad code and therefore not flag it up these work pretty effiently but do cost the user some are as cheap as £10 but will be detected within weeks but some are upward of 50,000 these will never become detected. Binder: these are used to bind there virus with anything such as a picture and then they send you that and you just think it is a picture and run it (crypter often have this as a feature)
spreading methods often include hacking tool and pirated programs but really they are always coming up with new spreading methods so here is somethings you can do to spot and find a virus first of all DO NOT download any tools that say facebook hacking tool ect when you have download a program check it's size if it is in the kb then delete it as this is the sort fo size a virus is after downloading a file always upload it to virus total and see the results there also they can spread through websites so never download anything that comes up at the bottom of your screen IE flash player update ect and finaly use your common sense and downloaded from trusted sites.
here is a few extra things to help you keep safe do virus scans daily ALWAYS use a vpn even though people can not a such hack you they can find your location (this is called a isp dox) and they can ddos you (Denial-of-service attack) which can temperaily turn off your internet connection. and be safe :)
sorry for such long wall of text just wanted to make sure everyone is safe and i think the best way to do it is to know what you are up against if anyone has any questions please leave below and if anyone needs any help removing or protecting them selfs from viruses please leave a comment down below and i will try and help stay safe. ![]() 2 likes |
