/gamemode 3 (Spectator) being removed
Posted 10 years ago Okay, so I know there are some people who have seen issues with Spectator Mode. I, for one, have many problems with it and believe it should be removed--or at least unaccessable.
Some pros of this, though

What sort of privacy issues? If it's plot chat, I think Pat could make people who are in spectator mode not view the plot chat. And also, when in spectator mode, you can see their head. And when you teleport to them. You can see it. So, that removes the issue of not knowing where the person is. Also, when the spectator is spectating someone, and you teleport to the spectator and find that you teleport to another player. This shows that that player you teleported to is spectating the other player. And why would someone want no one to be on their plots? If they might be chatting about something secretive on plot chat. That could be solved with what I mentioned above. Removing the ability to view plot chat when in spectator mode. Spectator mode doesn't disturb the other players much, and the spectator can't edit any blocks. So, they can't grief. Only spectate. |
Posted 10 years ago Most of the issues with spectator mode have already been fixed. :) You can "posses" people in /gm 3, therefore taking away their privacy I disabled left-clicking in spectator mode a few days ago so you can no longer do this. You can get into people's plots, even when denied. This was fixed when left-clicking was disabled. No one will know you're there, and if they don't want ANYONE there, that could cause problems If they don't want anyone on the plot, they can use /plot deny * as it will now deny players in spectator mode as well. No one knows where that person is If you hold tab, you'll see that spectators have a half-transparent name. If you then change your own game mode to spectator you can see other spectators. |
